Midnight Irisis
Midnight Irises is one of the quietest and most meditative works I’ve made. This abstract fluid painting is made entirely of blues—cobalt, indigo, ultramarine—layered with touches of emerald and flashes of saffron. The forms echo iris petals blooming in the dark: luminous, expansive, yet held in shadow. I painted this piece as a reflection on mystery, beauty, and spiritual depth. It’s for you if you’re drawn to stillness, depth, and that sacred feeling colour can sometimes hold.
This work brings calm and quiet power into a space. It’s both restful and rich, like deep water or the night sky just before dawn.
The iris flower, named after the Greek word for rainbow, has long been a symbol of communication between heaven and earth. In many African traditions, deep blue signifies ancestral knowledge, protection, and the liminal space between spirit and matter—especially in indigo-dyeing cultures across West Africa. This is a painting that invites long looking. It asks for trust in what is slow, and sacred, and not yet fully known.
